Who Rescued WHO? or WHOM? or...just, "All You Need Is Love"

In animal rescue, peeps who take in special needs animals are spoken of as having "rescued them." But, what if the rescuer herself has special needs? COCONUT CUSTOMIZES HER NEW "DIGS"

Ever since losing Erica, the herd has been grieving and generally "out of sorts" and so we did a co-ed experiment allowing MacTheNutPie to move in with her. He's neutered and they play together on Runabouts but we had never co-housed piggies who were not lawfully married. They hit it off, except that (it being her cage, after all) Coconut has been rearranging things so that, basically, she can do everything she wants without leaving the comfort of home: ergo, she moved her cuddle cup to be near her sippy bottle, then yesterday cracked us up by hauling her BoxHouse inTO her cuddle cup so she now enjoys a canopied bed adjacent to food and water...she's been quite magnanimous allowing MacTheNutPie to share, she's just insisted that all home decor be her way! Fortunately for the couple, Mac's a mellow guy. So, all is well in the Coco&MacNut Household and we are happy for them. Guinea pigs can die of grief; Mac saved her life. We hope Pappa and MammaPie give him his due for such heroism under pressure. Little Mac, we love you!

BLOGSTIPATED NO MORE!

Dear Friends, For nearly one month we have been unable to Blog to you. It has been a dark and stormy Night for us. Because we missed all of you. GOOGLE made a boo-boo, admitted it, and said they would fix it. When they didn't, they received my Sermon on the Mount of Blogstipation. No, it wasn't pretty. Nor was it concise and probably none of you even bothered to read it! But, you know who did? SchmaGooglites! And they quaked and they shivered because we also threatened to cut off their latte supply from STARBUCKS! Oh yeah. I never claimed to be a saint. A piggie gotta do what a piggie gotta do. Now we can Blog again. And I am happy.

But will I be for long? Mom said she has been hearing me cry at night in my sleeping bag and might take me to the vet when she and Edwin go up there to pick up Erica's ashes... (Geez, Mom, nothing says "Happy Birthday" like CREMATION!) It has simply been a severe, prolonged case of BLOGSTIPATION and who would not cry after a month of THAT? So, I hope they do not schlep me up to the vet. Nonetheless, we are Back! Since mom's best (non-virtual) friend, Susan, is also Birthday-ing tomorrow, she will visit Wednesday then Edwin arrives for 5 whole days of GLEE!

HOW DO WE LOVE EDWIN? WHO CAN COUNT THE WAYS? It's like he is one of us. He has insomnia so his bed is relegated to the living room adjacent to our cages and the man is one little Party Animal! He stays up all night with us teaching us that it's O.K. - in fact - a good thing, for us to whistle, squeal, scream, wheek, chew on the bars of our cage, and become completely unglued ALL NIGHT LONG if it keeps mom up because she'll also keep feeding us to get us to quiet down! Last time Edwin was here it took her two weeks to get us quiet at bedtime! She threatened Edwin. He did what he has been doing for 20 years, quietly ignoring her if he sees her pie-hole open and notices sounds emerging from it! He is wise amongst Men. So, if we are not Blogging before next week it is because we are "in training" for Mischief and Mayhem in the "School of Edwin!" SQUEEEEEEE! We can hardly wait and - believe me, you're sure to hear all about it! WHO LOVES YA, BABY? YUM-YUM LOVES YA! AND WE'S NOT BLOGSTIPATED NO MORE! WHEEEeeeeeK! HappyFeetDancing!

Meet Barley, Dog of the Mississippi River!

Dear Friends, That silhouette in my friend Nancy's window is Barley, a scruffy little terrier mix who came to the Washington, Co. Humane Society Shelter, PAWS & More (Iowa) all burned up, scarred, scabbed, itching, scratching, and not in a good way. Frankly, he was a mess! Nobody is really certain whether someone intentionally or unintentionally (?) spilled boiling water or oil all over him but they did... And he fought for his life even though many of us humans would consider giving up...but, not Barley! And what did he receive for his courage and faithfulness in the friendship of humans? He got Nancy, my friend from Iowa since the 1980's, both University of Iowa alums (well, me not quite-so-much) and now Barley is shredding, ripping, tearing, pulling out the stuffing from anything that was proud enough to even have stuffing (stuffN'no more!) and today he rode along Ole Miss with Nancy watching the water rise...Probably eyeing the sandbags, just aching to rip 'em open and chew 'em up! Iowa is facing floods again and we always feel "homesick" with a deep, inner longing to jump a plane out and shovel sand! So, Barley, you take good care of your mom and dad (editor of the Muscatine Journal!) and get yourself a life-jacket, just in case. P.S. Nancy is also an amazing artist and we hope to feature some of her art here soon! But for now, how about all you's sending good vibes to our buds on the Not-So-Lazy River. Thanks!

Dear Friends, In Guinea Pig lingo, what you see here is referred to as "Popcorning" for obvious reasons: there's only so much pure joy a little one can have before gravity ceases to exist and his GLEE-filled body becomes airborne in an unusual expression of PURE BLISS, HAPPY FEET, AND THE "DANCE OF WHEEK!" So, never underestimate our capacity for happiness, as it is equal to our capacity for love...and then some! (O.K. he is really practicing for his audition on "Dancing with the Stars" but until our beloved Apolo comes 'round with some better moves, we don't see him packing his bags for Hollywood any time soon.) Not to mention that if he even did have bags, he would just eat them!

Pound for pound, tooth for tooth, I come loaded with personality and know what the wimmin'pigs want: pretty, white teeth! I am Taj Mahal and I approve this Message because it's the message of TRUTH: the Girl-I-Pigs love me and mom's teeth aren't even near this white (coffee, coffee, coffee!) So, love me, play with me, brush my beautiful Abyssinian swirls, and just inhale the fragrance of my vegetarian musk aroma...yes, I really AM "All that and a bag of chips!" Just don't hate me because I'm beautiful. We are sure you have some nice characteristics that make you beautiful, too. We blurred the picture to keep me humble. Still: check out my chompers! Meet Our Newest Friend!

Here at PandaPig'sPeaceSanctuary we have a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and even when a guinea pig comes into the herd who is...shall we say...different?...we accept him just the way he is! Although we may need a taller cage for this one...not to mention, what's with the tail? {EDITOR: "YUM-YUM, what is our policy here?"} FINE! We do not notice his tail. So, please welcome our newest arrival and feel free to send name suggestions which will be judged by a Secret Judge and then voted on during Molly Movie Night and the winner will receive the entire Encyclopedia Britannica from 1964!
