Dear Friends, 'tis me, Chana here to
share with you my Secret of Secrets...
At the beginning of 2001, I learned
meditation from Sant Rajinder Singh,
who has written many books and continually
travels throughout the world to promote peace.
This Guinea Pig Sanctuary was actually
inspired by one of the ethical virtues he has
given us to practice, known as "Seva" in India,
also translated as "selfless service" and this has
introduced more friendships, love, and joy into
my life (and heartbreak) than anything I have
ever known.
Friends who have known me for many years
have (not jokingly) asked me to thank him for them!
Since beginning the Sanctuary and now writing for the
spiritual section of the Times of India online and possibly
in print, it has become clear that beyond any
differences we appear to have, LOVE and giving
selflessly brings more joy and peace, more
HAPPY-DANCING than all the stars in the heavens
and even poor, disabled souls can experience profound
inner happiness shared amongst like-spirited friends.
Which is all of you who read this blog.
Which is all of you who have been there for me
through some of the roughest months of my entire
life beginning on New Year's Day, 2012.
I wanted to express my personal gratitude and
profound appreciation for each and every one
of you while also acknowledging that the Source of
anything good from me (that doesn't sound like a sailor
cursing!) is inspired by my Spiritual Mentor and Friend.
While we each march to the beat of our own drummers,
my drum is the sweetness you see in my Beloved Teacher
and it is through His Grace that I am learning how to love.
And through yours.
I know so many of you cringe at the mushy stuff but
we are still learning to adjust to many losses in our lives
while celebrating our expanding global family of friends,
both human and guinea pig and all sorts in between,
above and below.
What I mean to say is that today I got out of bed and the
sun was shining and I went to a Magic Garden then drove
to an overlook across Bellingham Bay at the San Juan
Islands glistening in that rarest of the rare SUN and
felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
This is my teacher. You, my friends, are my teachers.
Please keep up the good work!
One day I will stopcursing expressing myself
passionately like a sailor and use only kind, sweet words.
(ya, sure, y'betcha!)
The sun came out.
But not just on the outside.
It rose from the inside, too.
For the first time in 2012.
How much do I love you all?!
(in the silence you will know.)
Yours,
Chana
