Dear Readers,
When Raj and Taj Mahal came to live with us, neither of them was "socialized" or had been held as baby piglets. They loved and still love each other, find me curious and lovely, but haven't been too sure about mom unless she was poking something
edible into their cage.
It's been a little while now, though, and they are starting, just beginning - mind you- to think maybe mom isn't an ogre, after all.
They run and scramble less and less each time she goes to pick one up out of the cage and even purr (accidentally, of course!) while being held, although as soon as they realize they've been purring on her lap, they stop abruptly and look about to see whether or not anyone heard them. We always hear them, but act nonchalant as if purring on mom's lap is not an admission of tameness impending...they don't want to become tame and nobody, NOBODY understands that better than me!
They aren't yet neutered, either, and that makes them wilder, as I also understand better than anyone else because I was
"The Wild One" until I got neutered, then...well, lap time started feeling kind of nice...yeah, I'll admit it.
So, instead of going out for her vegan waffle and Friday lunch folk music, mom stayed home and played with us, and Taj began his first tentative "outing" as a calmer, tamer pig. Briefly. One lap at a time, my Taj, one lap at a time!
See ya's later,
YumYum
"Who can know what effect our smallest acts of kindness may have on others? Perhaps the most important contribution of Mother Teresa, who serves the most destitute and neglected, is that she instills in those who have been abandoned the realization that they too are loved." ~ Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj ~ Panda Pig's Peace Sanctuary exists so that abandoned, neglected, sick, and dying guinea pigs may experience that they, too, are cherished and loved!
