EAT, PLAY, LOVE GARDENS HERE AND ABROAD!

Piggy People are special people
and we have invited guest blogger
Fairy to top our list of Special Piggies
before introducing our special piggie people's
special SPRING GARDENS!
This is Fairy and her Bear in her mum's
birthday box enjoying themselves
inside before we travel to...

BAVARIA!
This is where Ingrid and Helmut
and their meeris live, can you believe
these gorgeous blossoming ponds?

Here is a close-up of water lilies...
we know this garden must be full
of magic, wonder, and dragonflies
who flit to and fro from lily to lily!
Thank you so much, Ingrid, because
you sent these during our Winter
(two weeks ago) which has returned
so we are retreating back into your
blooming spring pond as you and
Helmut enjoy your vacation together
with Lucky and his lucky Harem of piggies!
**************************
Oh my! Who let Ian out with his shears?
Well done, Ian, brings a smile to us as well!

Oh dear, it appears that Ian
has tuckered himself out with all that
garden work and is relaxing in the shade,
tucked into one of Anita's birthday lawn chairs
Fairy, Marigold, and Ian gave her...
(Psssst! That is probably coffee, not tea, but
we'll save that story for another time
when Fairy can snitch, just not right
before Fairy's birthday, you know...)

Hmmm...may be a teapot there? Hmmmm.
****************************
Now we return to the "Evergreen State"
for our In-the-City Garden!
Where piggies roam, run, chase,
popcorn, dig up fleece in search
of treasure, sniff, chase, rumblestrut,
popcorn some more,
and Peter rides Bhindi like a
horse (true, just haven't been able
to catch it in a pic yet) but
quite remarkable what a cowboy
Peter-Peanut's turning out to be!

Bhindi and Peter-Peanut sniffing
who "Ranabout" before they did...
and whether they left any delectable
"nibbles" to taste and swallow while
mom looks away in horror...
OH, THE COPHRAGIA OF IT ALL!

Their new, cool, fun, narrow tunnel-chase-place!
Bhindi is already worn out after chasing speedy,
wee Peter-Peanut around and around.

Enough living room for mom to throw a
festive tea party for...a dormouse?!

Thank you friends, near & FAR
for sharing your gardens with us as winter
returns here!
Friends, we invite you ALL to enjoy the bursting colors of freshly laundered cuddle cups, cozy plush, sleep tunnels, bright red two-doored castles with hay on top, and every kind of fun thing a piggie could ask for!
Not bothering whether rain or shine, Imagination-filled guinea piggies treat
every day as perhaps we all should:
as a NEW spring day
full of EXCITING opportunities
to eat, play, love.
OH PIGGIES!

"Boy, first of all, that is just a watermelon,

'ALLO, 'ALLO!

'Allo-'Allo, Father-of-Fairy!
Dear Friends,
You probably didn't believe Fairy really lives in a thatched cottage in England, the kind we all read
about in the Fairytales of our child and adulthoods, well, BOO TO YA, mates!
(O.K. that may not be the thatched one but
there is a thatched one we've seen it!)
Because this really is her home and that's her
Daddy, Ian, inventor of the largest shovel in the world which got into the Guinness Book of World Records until someone else felt compelled to copy it and make it a few inches larger seeking his (we hope ) own name and fame, but the thing is, this is where Fairy will be celebrating her 3rd birthday
the ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE which we shall be covering in preparation of our OlympiGs coverage coming to you direct from London and
what-not, so-forth, so-on, you see?

Not only that, but Ingrid and Helmut oh ye senders of authentic Bavarian chocolat are on vacation and will be visiting Ingrid's hometown of Salzburg, so we hope to feature a photo essay on her Day Away from the Meeris and we don't yet know whether the dackels will be going along or not...but feel sure they will tell (and hopefully SHOW us all about it!)

As for us...we have heard of a book trilogy called Ten Shades of Grey or something and that pretty much sums up our weather here! We have sun-bursts now and then to tease us into believing that we are still alive before Mr. & Mrs. Blustering WestWind set their sights upon us and mom is going out of (what little remains of) her mind  putting summer clothes where her winter clothes were hanging, then getting her winter clothes back out, then doing it a few more times...
(all in one day) so she surrendered, leaving  summer where it was all winter and winter where it was all winter...you have to live here to "get it."
Every Shade of Gray/Grey...by the way, since
we haven't read the books, are they vampires, too?
GUINEA-VAMPIRES!!!WHEEEEEEK!
Just wondering.
LOVE YOU ALL,
PLEASE GET MUM A TRACTOR TO MOVE
HER CLOTHES HITHER AND THITHER
MR. FAIRY-DADDY, WE LOVE RED, DOES ANYTHING COME in red besides tractors and this thing we have heard of called "sunburn?"
love you all!

Gosh, just discovered that we donated art to this amazing organization as part of the ARTISANS
community. Was in hospital or out at time so benefactress ARTISANS co-ordinator created a package of guinea pig cards for us which were auctioned off to support buying up the last remaining wild areas not developed by greedy...well, that's getting off subject (not really.)
Yeah for guinea pigs, YOU HELP SAVE THE PLANET, or at least this little corner of it we call HOME! (Calvin continues to be our best-selling card with MacNutPie coming in a close second, although the BigMac is number one in England, appearing on a variety of fund-raising products sold by Guinea Pig Magazine...)

They are so popular the Gallery informed me today that they are giving me even more space for cards AND magnets of them greet visitors entering ARTISANS...

We love our new babies (even if Bhindi is secretly an elephant) but must confess that card-making time (and it will be this week) remains a wound of grief, looking into their eyes -
So, we focus on watermelon, lots of wheeky lap-time, runabouts, popcorning, and when it is
absolutely necessary during a cardmaking worktime, curling up into the fetal position to grieve.
We just go with it...what else can a lover do besides cherish what was and be grateful for what is.

FROM INGRID IN BAVARIA...SPRING!

Thank you, Ingrid...OH PLEASE
give Lucky and His happy harem
of meeris plenty of scritchy-scratchies
and
 tender, sweet kisses for us!
We can hardly wait to open
your emails and see your new photographs,
visiting your home in Bavaria
and your family still in Salzburg!
Wishing you a warm and
WONDROUS VACATION
from the Tribe here who hope you
will be kind enough to send us
sweetly fragranced, honeyed
high-mountain air...
and the freedom to ROAM!

Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, My Beloved Spiritual Master

Dear Friends, 'tis me, Chana here to
share with you my Secret of Secrets...
At the beginning of 2001, I learned
meditation from Sant Rajinder Singh,
who has written many books and continually
travels throughout the world to promote peace.
This Guinea Pig Sanctuary was actually
inspired by one of the ethical virtues he has
given us to practice, known as "Seva" in India,
also translated as "selfless service" and this has
introduced more friendships, love, and joy into
my life (and heartbreak) than anything I have
ever known.
Friends who have known me for many years
have (not jokingly) asked me to thank him for them!
Since beginning the Sanctuary and now writing for the
spiritual section of the Times of India online and possibly
in print, it has become clear that beyond any
differences we appear to have, LOVE and giving
selflessly brings more joy and peace, more
HAPPY-DANCING than all the stars in the heavens
and even poor, disabled souls can experience profound
inner happiness shared amongst like-spirited friends.
Which is all of you who read this blog.
Which is all of you who have been there for me
through some of the roughest months of my entire
life beginning on New Year's Day, 2012.
I wanted to express my personal gratitude and
profound appreciation for each and every one
of you while also acknowledging that the Source of
anything good from me (that doesn't sound like a sailor
cursing!) is inspired by my Spiritual Mentor and Friend.
While we each march to the beat of our own drummers,
my drum is the sweetness you see in my Beloved Teacher
and it is through His Grace that I am learning how to love.
And through yours.
I know so many of you cringe at the mushy stuff but
we are still learning to adjust to many losses in our lives
while celebrating our expanding global family of friends,
both human and guinea pig and all sorts in between,
above and below.

What I mean to say is that today I got out of bed and the
sun was shining and I went to a Magic Garden then drove
to an overlook across Bellingham Bay at the San Juan
Islands glistening in that rarest of the rare SUN and
felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
This is my teacher. You, my friends, are my teachers.
Please keep up the good work!
One day I will stop cursing expressing myself
passionately like a sailor and use only kind, sweet words.
(ya, sure, y'betcha!)

The sun came out.
But not just on the outside.
It rose from the inside, too.
For the first time in 2012.

How much do I love you all?!
(in the silence you will know.)

Yours,
Chana
&
1SkatrPie
MODS RULE

You Live In My Heart,
and the hearts of
YumYum,

Bhindi,
and precious baby
PeterPeanut...
And those we tragically lost
here at the Sanctuary at the
beginning of this year
and years past.

SEEKING THE PERFECT HEDGEHOG FOR FAIRY'S BIRTHDAY!

WHY HAVE WE DEVOTED THREE
ENTIRE POSTS TO TODAY?
SIMPLE:
1) THE SUN FINALLY CAME OUT
2) MOM FINALLY CAME OUT
3) WE DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY
WILL BOTH COME OUT AGAIN
AT THE SAME TIME, LIKE AN
ECLIPSE.
4) MOM VISITED HER FAVORITE
ART GALLERY ON CHUCKANUT
DRIVE BECAUSE  FAIRY'S
BIRTHDAY IS COMING UP AND, WELL,
YOU NEED A MAGIC GARDEN WHILE
CONTEMPLATING FAIRY'S BIRTHDAY
BECAUSE FAIRY IS - IF NOTHING ELSE -
PURE, BEAUTIFUL MAGIC!
SO MOM NOT ONLY ENJOYED THE
ART GALLERY (NORTHWEST ARTISTS
ARE PARTICULARLY WELL KNOWN FOR
OUR GLASS WORK) BUT SHE TOOK HER
FIRST TOUR OF THE GALLERY'S
MAGIC GARDEN!
AND HAD HER FIRST GOOD DAY,
HER FIRST REALLY GREAT DAY,
IN A LONG, LONG TIME!
Thank you for letting us indulge.
It is SO RARE to have days like this.
We love you
and hope that YOU enjoy the Magic Garden
as much as we did!
