HURTS

we sure want to play. we sure want to run around. we sure wish the bird would fly away so mom can let us out and we can all have fun doing what we does best: running, chasing, playing tag, discovering hidden treats, snatching our discoveries right
outta each others' mouths (hee-hee, dat definitely a FAVORITE!) getting our cages cleaned, our food bowls and water bowls
cleaned, enjoying fresh litter with a stack of yummy timothy hay...go 'way HeadacheBird, SHOO!

we suffer when mom gets sick and, frankly, we iz SICK O'DAT! c'mon, let's Par-TAY!#

YOU HAVE TO CLICK ON THIS TO SEE DETAILS

This is how a migraine feels from the Inside...there is a bird in the middle but it's too crowded to even find it. Like how a thought hides when mom's brain is Imploding/Exploding/WarpDrive: TOO fast: "Cap'n, the engines...they can't TAKE it..." so then Captain Kirk says "Warp 10, Scotty." And the dishes don't get done, mom's hair looks like she stuck her finger in an electric socket, and she can't figure out why she is eating a bowl of cereal with a writing pen instead of a spoon.# good times, ya.

Coconut Teaches Us BoyZ "Diplomacy"

What our (not-so-anymore) "Little" Coconut REALLY MEANS IS: "Please don't take my carrot, we know you already got our cantaloupe and now we's scared!" But that won't mean much to mom.
What WILL mean much to mom is the sight of concern emanating from those (faux) wide, empathetic black eyes of hers, Coconut's expression of profound, sincere concern over mom's suffering, and the agony that witnessing mom's continuing migraine causes our liddle darlin' girl: As if mom's pain is her pain.

Mom ain't even gonna NOTICE that carrot Coconut secretly tryin' to protect wid this performance!

WHAT A PLAYA! WHO AMONGST US EVEN KNEW: COCONUT HAZ TALENT!

Would mom snatch that carrot outta Coconut's mouth the way she snatched our cantaloupe breakfast this morning?
NOtta CHANCE! If anything, she'll give Coconut EXTRA treats!

Hmmm...weThinks our Coconut is craftier, wilier, and more cunning than even we knew...she KNOWS THINGS,
THINGS WE MUST LEARN!

Hope - Our Deliverance - Hath Arrived where we least expected it! Quiet little Coconut, the most cunning amongst us?
WHO KNEW?
Hee-Hee, mom, we KNOWS NOW!
Mu-ah-Ha-HAAAAA!

INUIT OWLS FROM CAPE DORSET PRINT COLLECTION

When mom starts to draw after her migraines, her pictures can look a little something like this.
Not really.
But we likes these a lot and want to share them with you.
That part IS TRUE.

Pretty, Pretty Migraine...

This is actually a contemporary painting created by Australian Aboriginal Artist Lucky Morton, one of mom's favorite art genres (along with Inuit/Cape Dorset printmaking, Molas from Panama, and Northwest Native American art) which somehow illustrates how her head feels right now...it hurts, pain looping, but some pretty in it... oddly, on the heels of a prolonged migraine lasting WAY too many days, she starts drawing like crazy, so SOMETHING GOOD happens during these times, we just don't exactly know WHAT! And, believe it or not, there is even a genre labeled "migraine art" because, apparently, this is not as uncommon or novel as we once thought. She is considered an
"Outsider Artist" (don't mean she draws outside, means she CRAZY if ya GOOGLE IT!) but each migraine leaves gifts when it departs, like an unwanted guest who enters uninvited, stays way too long, don't leave till it ready, yet drops off something we discover once pen meets paper in the "Great Aftermath." Ain't got no explanation, just wants her to feel better so we get treats, playtime, and cuddles! Plus, she in bed with a cantaloupe we know is meant for US and that is simply WRONG!

Once she feels better, we will express our displeasure with the cantaloupe having become her breakfast instead of ours. Until then, we just have to endure the moaning, the ice packs, whining,
and "i can't even get on the 'puter, and, OH BLOODY HORK, THINK I GONNA BARF!"

Thanks, mom, we needed that.
We so did NOT NEED THAT.

love,
long-suffering YumYum...sigh...an ethical breach of conduct
not only to STEAL our cantaloupe but then to, well, ya know!

Inspiration from Mother Teresa

"Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do, but how much love we put in that action."
~ Mother Teresa

So many times, mom is too sick to clean our cages, water bottles, food bowls, set up our Playpen for Runabouts, and spend quality cuddle-time with each of us individually every day...she laments.

People mistakenly think guinea pigs are easy to care for and that is one reason our Sanctuary has no dearth of
rescues...because we are actually high maintenance animals with a complex, herd-based social structure and
a need for much socializing, play, interaction, touching, and love.

Some of us arrive here having NEVER experienced any of this...we bite, we scream, we are afraid to be touched, we are sick, we are weak, we have mites in our ears and throughout the fur across our little bodies, some of us come with cancer, and some of us come because, at age 4, Calvin the small was determined "unsellable" since our lifespans run generally 5 - 7 years...so we are high maintenance to begin with, and still arrive with highly individualized "special needs" we learn to communicate to mom.

For those reasons and her own health - or lack of it - she cannot always do as much as she wants...and goes to bed disappointed, promising us that she'll get to this or that tomorrow...but one thing we NEVER go without is love and attention to detail, making sure that each one of us here knows how much we matter, to mom and to one another. There is never a dearth of love, petting, treats, cooing, sweet kisses from Calvin the small's pink lips, purring and purring when mom rubs my achy back just the right way, and reassuring Coconut that yes, life goes on even though she misses Erica and the Mahal Brothers are again tumping over their Pigloo in their eternal quest to move it so their food bowl, mini hay-bales, wooden chew toys, and other valuable possessions are contained therein, barely leaving any room to sleep! We watch mom's disappointment almost daily that she cannot "do more" but we know how much love she and every single person in animal rescue DO put into "that action" - particularly our disabled animal rescue friends - and there are many, particularly amongst MODS!

Every single one of you willing to have your own hearts broken over and over again to help heal ours,who genuinely cherish our willingness to trust humans again, we salute you, our brethren, our People, givers of the first "forever homes" we have ever known. We love you.

Portrait of Brotherly Love...

Brotherly love, better known as "The Great Food Snatch Caper!" Wherein Taj takes what was unlawfully given to brother Raj; takes it because Justice must Prevail!

Or, because he's a sneaky, conniving -

{EDITOR: "YUM-YUM, ARE YOU SAYING NICE THINGS?"}
"Ya, mom! Real nice."

{EDITOR: "THAT'S MY GOOD BOY! THANKS, YUM-YUM"}

You Betcha! Sneaky, conniving, scheming, plotting, slippery, underhanded,
conspiring, Machiavellian, underhanded, devious -

{EDITOR: "Yum-Yum?"}

What you see pictured here, dear Reader, is a loving portrait of Brotherly Love
so selfless it leaves us breathless!

"Yeah, mom?

Silence...hee-hee, mu-Ah-Ha-HAAAA!
