Calvin Discovers an ESCAPE HATCH!

It's a lot of fun runnin' around all over the place but we piggies gots to have our hidin' places, too, y'know, just in case an Andean Eagle flies by! Calvin loves his wooden box (and it looks like somebody been peein' on the top!) but recently discovered the "secret sun-roof" and isn't sure whether to look out, climb out, or just ignore it.
We'll keep you posted.
Don't wait around.
Calvin has a way of changing his mind.
But he fun, ya: we lurves our Calvin the small...and, in this case, he's the only one among us small
enough to actually climb outta HIS hole!

HEAVENLY MT. RAINIER

This is actually a real, "undoctored" photograph of our beloved NW icon, Mt. Rainier, taken by John Meadows when turbulence from the mountain (that makes its own weather) sucked a hole in the clouds hovering above it.

We find it a beautiful, poignant reminder how small our troubles can be if we remember how beautiful life is when we least expect it!

We have not really had a "summer" per se, but have enjoyed our cool weather, being together, all us piggies love being in the bedroom with mom, and although some of us are sick and my back hurts, we are all pretty darn happy! Mom rubs prednisone cream on my ear every day for pain and gives me special attention, combing out my mohawk and telling me how handsome I is! True!

How much they love their "scrunchies!"

POP! Goes the Guinea!

One day while most of the herd was out at once, it excited Raj Mahal to the point of POPCORNING all over the place! MacNutPie watched with interest, yet remained poised with the possibility of an impending FOOD event!
Treats Galore gets MacNutPoppin' so he's savin' it up for the carrots, lettuce,
spinach, yellow bell peppers, carrot-tops, grapes cut in half, a little watermelon wouldn't hurt, and when mom cuts sweet, fresh local blueberries in half he don't mind that, neither. Don't take much to make us piggies happy; it takes EVERYTHING! But when you see us pop, it all be worth it!

Cut our grapes in half. Cut our blueberries in half, too, while y'at it!
Cuz that how we roll, folks, that just how we roll!

The happiest piggies "Popcorn" when they

are running about and cannot keep so much

joy confined to their tiny bodies. They literally

"POP" into the air in many different ways:

MacNutPie and YumYum "POP" like bucking

bronchos while Calvin and the others simply

become airborn, turn in mid-air, then abruptly

switch direction, popcorn again, and twirl about

before taking off again - FULL SPEED AHEAD!

The main way to keep a piggie airborne is space

to run, exercise, explore, socialize with one another,

forage for hidden treats, zip through cardboard boxes

with lots of doors cut out, and simply have enough

space, socializing, and enrichment to FLY!

Despite Calvin and YumYum both having degenerative

bone disease, they are still POPPING and everyone

stops whatever they are doing to witness the miracle

of pigs in pain, skeletons turned to glass and/or fusing,

yet capable of JOY, JOY, and more JOY!

Mom loves us so much because she says we have taught

her that being sick don't mean ya can't have lots o'fun!

SPEW ALERT: COOPER GIGGLES LIKE A GIRL!

CHAI IS MINE AND YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM!

Meet Sami, the boss o'Chai! She was found wandering down a highway and nobody ever claimed her but she was kinda wild, not feral, but wild and also you know how Torties can be (like a Hershey bar, sweet and chocolaty but a little bit NUTS!) and she all THAT! First time we got her for Chai after his other sweetheart passed away, nearly at the age of 20, she went into the bathroom and the only way Edwin could fetch her to get a lion cut (her fur FULL O'WHATEVER KINDA NASTY YOU CAN IMAGINE!) he was so scared he wore a heavy duty kitchen apron, big, fat oven mits on both hands, his speedskating helmet, safety goggles, and boots! She stayed feisty and hissy for awhile cuz nobody ever showed her peeple CAN BE NICE if they wants to and after a few years she did settle in and her sweet side came out and she now owns Edwin. 

Chai in love wid her but she merely tolerates him: Sami will sashay over to him, all fem and fancy-like so he looks up to admire her, then just SLAP him upside the face for no other reason than she feel like it! She just walks up all nice then SLAPS THE HORK OUTTA HIM  with her front paw! Her work done, she then sashays back to one of her many cozy beds and curls up for a nap leaving Chai
dazed and confused, wondering: "What I DO?!" ( a LOT, actually, but that is for another post.)

Thank you all for not wanting Chai to be alone, but he is quite NOT alone, although he is on antidepressants to keep him from eating Edwin while Edwin sleeping. Or awake. Still, ain't it true, the Queen reigns Supreme in their house and always will!

We lurves us our Sami! But she considers the GuineaPigulas not worth an ounce of her attention
and ignores them. She can be a real sweetheart (if and when she feel like it!)

When Chai and Panda Started the Sanctuary

Chai loved grooming PandaPig because he was a Peruvian long-haired piggie and Chai treated him like his very own kitten. And PandaPig loved him, too. They were best pals till I came along and
then PandaPig took care of ME! But Chai didn't mind. He watched us run and chase each other and popcorn all over the floor and just laughed at the silly piggies, he called us: the silly piggies~

PandaPig was a guinea pig of unusual size and he and Chai were best friends back at the Wildlife Sanctuary. Now that PandaPig has passed and Chai is living in Seattle, he has become more mischievous than ever! Will he come back to us? Can you imagine him and all six of us hanging out on mom's bed together? Wouldn't be room for her! But Chai lurves him his guinea pigs: he nursed a dying one we adopted many years ago and loved her so much we had to put a carpet remnant atop her cage for him to sleep on and guard her. He sensed she was dying and loved her very, very much.
We named her "Little Pig" cuz she was little, like Calvin. We know Chai would love us all and that Edwin would like to sleep at night. What will happen now that Chai is driving Edwin crazy?
