BEST FRIENDS!

 

This is my best friend since 1975, Jerry, and Cyndi, his music partner (he also has an amazing wife!) right before their performance at a "Bob and Beatles" Concert. Have NO idea who Bob is, Beatles good 'nuff for us.  Jer attended BOTH Woodstocks, the original 3-Day Woodstock and the ReUnion, too. While Cyndi writes the best songs and they have made CD's but my favorite song is one about a starfish she wrote. Jerry's played guitar for me, taught me how to birdwatch, almost got us eaten by a 'gator in the Okeefenokee Swamp back in the 1970's, and introduced me to the poetry of Walt Whitman, Blake, the Transcendentalists, Thoreau, played vinyl recordings of Richard Burton reciting "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" for me when I lived in a little attic room in Atlanta where he and his wife still live (not in an attic) but Atlanta in a small cabin with an owl box! Jerry now has an owl who comes and sits on a branch just outside his window whenever he is ill. True: it comes and watches over him...In many ways, I can trace my life as an adult (I was about 18 when we met? something) all the good passion for nature and birds and wildlife and writing and travelling in swamps and places full of birdsong influenced by his friendship and it remains so to this day. He is in me, has been since we met. Funny how you don't realize stuff like that until way later.


Nothing in life compares to having a good friend for life.
I am convinced that we are still together because we never fell
in love and got married! We simply love each other. Always have. Always will!
And we had ADVENTURES.
REALLY, REALLY GREAT ADVENTURES.

Edwin just called us from downtown Seattle a few hours ago about
Hay-Day Riots he accidentally found himself in the middle of.
Kind of reminded us of the WTO Riots back when...well, whenever they were. See Bhindi behind me? He's giving me the eye because
if there's a hay shortage...he's thinking...well, we are loving and
we will share. Not really. Mom stayed in all day finishing an art thing she promised and we all behaved. Not really. Didn't get our Runabouts thanks to "BHINDI'S BIG TOE ESCAPE" cuz now we have to be "watched" and mom had to focus on the art thing!

all that "organizing" you halfway did today, so why not

my personal, little sleep-box or pretty green sleep
tunnel, I am very generous and it would be a privilege 
to have you sleep with me, Mom, really!


Thank you so much, VinnyGuinea, you and YumYum have
both been soooo sweet inviting me, but Bhindi here is already
getting tucked in for the night on his new zebra-striped tunnel
so I think we're going to spend the night in that as long as he 
stops mistaking my short hair for whEEkgrass.

Vinny explains: See, Mom got sick of us having the whole house and her having nothing, not really, what she really said is how hard it is to get her art "organized" while half is taking up her ENTIRE bedroom and the other half is in here where (FINDER'S KEEPERS, PIGGIE-EATERS!) SO...

Seeing as how it was supposed to be sunny

and pretty but now we're getting a winter

storm she decided to single-handedly move

ALL THE ART STUFF THAT HAS BEEN

in her bedroom in here with us (where we can

find it and eat it easier: SNAP! SNAP!)

(which ought to tell you right off that this

ain't gonna turn out good...) then tied on

one of those back brace things for people who

lift heavy things...and you know how on that

they say "MOVE THAT BUS!"

Well, she got tired in the middle of

did NOT see THAT COMING!

Dem Crazy Pigs! Now all of us can actually
reach up on our tippy toes all the way to the
very tops of our habitat cage tops 'cept they
don't HAVE TOPS so whaddya think happened
tonight? Bhindi never had organic, sweet mini-
watermelon before and grabbed it outta mom's 
hand so fast it actually fell down OUTSIDE HIS
CAGE! Even lil'Vinny's a long stretch on a Sunday
afternoon! Or Saturday, you know we don't care...
Anyway, WE GOT WATERMELON and
unless mom thinks we're at risk for dropping ourselves
into someone else's cage she's not ordering cage-tops
and we love it that way cuz she can always reach down
and scritchy-scratch us even wid a migraine!
Cuz then we is her THERAPY PIGz!
