THE OLYMPIC FLAME

This is the picture Edwin took from his seat adjacent the stage during Opening Ceremonies. k.d. lang sang "Hallelujah" as the cauldron was lit. They weren't letting guinea pigs in but Edwin made us proud!

This song is what mom plays when she cleans our cages every day. Usually we listen to Rufous Wainwright singing from the "SHREK" soundtrack. It makes us all cry because, well, we just do. We feel touched by a Presence Divine, even in the midst of poo, pee, and hay flying everywhere. It's so human, so guinea piggie, so universally saturated in Mercy. So, here is kd lang at the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics 2010. We would like to listen to this one, too, maybe at night when mom gets us all ready for bed and we say our goodnight prayers of gratitude for having our new lives, together; we are One, we are Love.

Hallelujah!

And face it, people, does she move you to tears or are you a rock?

EDWIN'S SEAT BEHIND PEOPLE IN WHITE!

Video | Opening Ceremony: The uniforms | NBC Olympics

Edwin miraculously walked into the Olympics and scored a seat to Opening Ceremonies within two hours of the start. He sat only feet from the Athlete's entrance and even got an autograph from the Armenian alpine skier while she marched with her team! His face is actually on this video. He had fun!

THRILLS AND SPILLS: SHORT TRACK SPEEDSKATING! NOT FOR SHY PIGS!

This is how Mom and Edwin skate!  Mom falls down for no reason, but when Edwin fell, he always made sure to take out a few competitors with him!   Bad Edwin.

Mom once found herself racing along, humming to herself when the next thing she saw were her own skates flashing before her eyes. In that split-second, she thought, "That's a  bit odd?" and next  thing she was bouncing off the ice on her bright, blue helmet!  Bounce, bounce, bounce. That's MOM!

Edwin, he's just BAAAAaaaaaaaaaadDD!  If he goes down, you do not want to be on the ice, near the ice, in the arena, even in the same city, state, or country.  You might not even want to be on the Earth.  That is why they built the Space Station: so somebody would still survive to keep mankind alive, whenever Edwin raced.

That is a fact.  Ask NASA. Or U.S. Speedskating.  Or anybody in Western Washington, USA.  Or Mom.

NO ORDINARY HALLELUJAH!

Video | Musical recap of the Opening Ceremony | NBC Olympics
EDWIN TOOK HIS PACK ON THE BUS YESTERDAY, NOTHING IN HIS HAND BUT SOME VEGAN PUMPKIN BREAD AND ENDED UP ON THE FRONT ROW AT OPENING CEREMONIES OF THE 2010 OLYMPICS WHERE k.d. land sang our favorite song as the Olympic cauldron was lit dramatically!

Our deepest sympathies to the family, team and friends of the Georgian luger who lost his life in a practice run yesterday. Edwin said after the Olympic flags were raised they were lowered to half mast.

We hope and pray, not for snow on Cypress Mountain, but for a safe and peaceful time and place where the entire world can celebrate as One.

EDWIN WALKS INTO TOWN, ON FRONT ROW OF OPENING CEREMONIES

We just received news that Edwin, who boarded a Greyhound bus with only a backpack and no tickets for anything, is sitting on the FRONT ROW at the "Opening Ceremonies" having traded tickets with someone who didn't mind sitting further away because he wanted to sit with his wife.  Apparently, Edwin is actually on the stage, the seats are THAT CLOSE. We want to get to know him better.

We hope he read the instruction manual that came with the new camera we gave him as he journeyed from Bellingham to Vancouver because WE WANT PROOF!  There's much, much more...so:

B-210: Canada's Secret Weapon

CBC.ca Video
We guinea pigs think it's really, really great how desperately the Canadians want to "own the podium" SO we dispatched Yum-Yum, who brings us breaking news he uncovered revealing their secret "B-210" strategy!

This is fo real, y'all! (YumYum, stop giggling, they can give things funny names like in James Bond movies if they want!)

Hee-Hee. OOPS, that was me...sorry...B-210?! What?

YumYum wants to win the Golden Cavy Award for his investigative journalism, but it's only Day 1, all the pigs are out digging up stories (and vegetable gardens), so stay tuned to our Posts,  plus Edwin's Daily Calls from the Center of the Universe!  He is currently standing in line, waiting for Opening Ceremonies to begin in Vancouver and, apparently, they have TWO, that's right TWO cauldrons to light, one inside, one outside.

Of course they do.

So stay tuned as new posts arrive daily, LIVE FROM THE 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS IN VANCOUVER, CANADA! Seriously. And Hail the syrup-sucking B-210 athletes in their quest to "own the podium!"

LET THE GAMES BEGIN IN 2010!

LETTING GO, REVISITED.

Mom has FINALLY decided, once and for all , to put her racing gear away and relax. She will be putting up pictures of us instead of imagining herself on the ice. As exciting as sports can be, she told Edwin tonight that nothing beats hearing a rescue piggie purring; laughing when he popcorns straight up into the air, then running away only to end up popping madly again because he's too happy to be bound by gravity! That would be me, The Flying PandaPig!

Hey, it sure beats smashing head first into the wall when you turn a corner too fast on the ice and wake up wondering who you are and how you got upside down.

We are grounding: Healing. Calming. She knows who she is when we are on her lap: Happy! Content. Peaceful. And she wants for nothing with us around: It is THAT sweet! Yup, that's us! Good to the last drop, we are!

Our infectious affection has helped mom let go of who she was when she was healthy and embrace all the goodness that she has received since becoming too ill to speedskate into walls and turn upside down. Now the only stars in her eyes are us: Yours truly PandaPig,  YumYum the "One-Pig-Circus-Act"& and Bear the Beaver Pig: Rescue Pigs to the Rescue! Yup!

Mom is happy in a quieter way now; serene, in the moment, and content to hear YumYum conversate with the birds outside while we stifle our own giggles to avoid embarrassing him. (And those proud wild birds who do not realize they are courting a little guinea pig with their whistles and singing.)

No more racing around for mom:  No more chasing happiness. Every morning we chase her with our wake-up call: "Breakfast, Mom, we know you're up, so Breakfast. NOW! WwWHHeeeEEEEkkkKK!" The  three TenorPigs are her new starting gun and inner peace the finish line.

The race is on every morning right here at home, not in the skating rink, just the refrigerator: will it be carrots, lettuce, cucumber, or a kale kind of morning? Oranges? Apples? Hard decisions. Tough choices: Wonderful.

So, these 2010 Winter Olympics, Mom has put her skates away in the closet once and for all only to race, sliding in her winter socks to the fridge for our breakfast. She races For love: Love at the speed of ice!
