Today's Random Act of Kindness

Dear Friends Broiling around the country,

We will stop complaining about our wintry weather here and tell you a happy story to cheer you all up.
Mom has been in "Exploding Head" mode but happier with Calvin next to her bed. But today, she just
had to GET OUT! Because there was a bright thing in the sky and it wasn't a plane, train, rocket, missile,
cloud, Boeing 777, Blue Angel, or a latte, it was the S.U.N. and although it was intermittent, it WAS!
It still IS! So, mom headed out with her headache and sun hat straight to the Post Office where, as is
beginning to happen more and more, a car nearly squashed her in the crosswalk, seems like it happens
every week now, but the Peace Rally people who Rally for Peace on that corner every Friday got unpeaceful
and yelled at the driver who decided not to squash mom in front of so many angry peaceful people. That done,
she walked about a little before dragging the FatHead back home again and saw two happy ladies holding hands
on the sidewalk which made her think of love. They all smiled and said hello, then one of the ladies came back and
asked mom if she would like a random act of kindness! Mom thought not getting run over was pretty cool, but felt
that more would be even cooler, so she said yes and that lady gave mom the biggest, bestest hug! And then Mom was
happy and the lady was happy and they were all happy so mom went to the ice cream place where her friend, Patrick,
was playing a George Harrison song with his guitar on the sidewalk (Railroad Street, of course, for those of you who
have seen "Bellingham State of Mind" on YouTube) and found out they had eggless ice cream! So she got a kidZ scoop
but Patrick had to go so she talked to all the other people and felt much better. Happy, even. Then came home and now
having to hole up with ice packs isn't quite as bad (although missing Molly Movie Night is) and Calvin gonna snuggle with
her too because she had one random act of kindness and all of us are up to snuggling Random Acts of Kindness any time
mom wants, all she has to do is ask! (and include treats.) So, the sun came up, she didn't get squashed two weeks in a row, she got a fabulatious HUG, chocolate coconut ice cream kids' scoop with no eggs, and even got to hear Patrick play for a few minutes. Now we go back to bed a happier, more content Migraine Nation, with guinea pig love INCOMING!

GUESS WHAT?

Guess what? I am so happy and excited, mom moved me from the Sanctuary in the living room into the bedroom right by her bed today. And it's great! She got stuck in there with a migraine and was so bummed out (not that the sun was actually SHINING, mind you, just that it wasn't raining!) and it gave her anxiety not be able to go out...so she moved me in with her to pet me all the time and put me in my special kitten bed with my special blanket you see here, and when I get in it I like to tell her all about my day unless there's a treat for me to eat instead of fuss...it just sounds like fussing, not really fussing, I just like storytelling until I fall asleep on her hand and then she can't pull her hand out without waking me up and getting me fussing again. So, despite having figured out that the respiratory infection that moved in last October MAY be possibly but probably not, O.K. probably is that she is allergic to our hay (and maybe even us and our dander, but try giving Calvin the small a bath and see how small I is!) who cares? Now mom and I are room-mates. I never really felt like a guinea pig because I was bonded to a human once who loved me very, very much a long, long time ago...but stopped, I dunno why. That human's room-mate couldn't stand watching me be neglected and kidnapped me to the Farm Store where they saved me for mom. And the room-mate, they said, comes by sometimes to ask about me he felt so bad about the way I got treated and they assured him how happy I am! And now it's even better because I get to hear mom sneeze all night, pretend she is waking me up, fuss, and get treats special, only me, Calvin the small. It was a good day for Calvin. Sweet Dreams.

WHAT IS SUN?

^O.K. you gotta press on the pic to enlarge it: so sue us!^
It Hath Been Decreed that the Sun Will Shine Upon the pale, pale Bellinghamsters once Molly and McGee's Owlets Fledge.
This may be a very short summer, should it come at all.
We is the Pale People, we walk the streets like pale zombies, occasionally staring up into what we have been told is a thing,
they call it...oh, what is that name they give it? Oh, the SKY! The sky. See the sky? We stare at it. We wonder why. Why.

Oh, and for those of you who have no pity on us because we haven't been beset by tornadoes, think AGAIN!
Not here in our city, but we are actually getting reports of twisters in other parts of Washington: So there.

We won't even bring up the 9.0 earthquake we just attended a preparedness class for. We dunno why. Bellingham is
built on top of mines...MINES! So...we are the pale people waiting for the sun, prepared for the earthquake that will
give Idaho beachfront property, and all we want is a nice tan, the look of a people prepared for adventure by land, sea,
mountain, river, or ocean...

we look like pathetic zombies. with hula-hoops every Saturday at the Farmer's Market. it is the most fun to be had.
Pale stoics waiting for The Big One as the clouds take our fair little city seige day after day...month after month...
until we all hang up our Seattle Sombrero Hats, put on shorts, eat ice cream in hailstorms on Railroad Street, and
Sing: "We are the Champions, my Friend! And we'll Keep on fighting till the end...We are the champions, we are the
champions..." with ice cream. And hula hoops. On Champion Street. Pale Zombies singing. Looking Up, faint memories
of something bright, we know not what. There's even a terrific new gelato place!
