Dear Russian brothers and sisters,
We have noticed many of you read our
blog and want to extend a personal
HELLO! We guinea pigs don't know
how to write Russian so we hope you

Edwin spent his time at the Vancouver
2010 Olympics with members of your team 
and if you go back far enough on our blog
you may even recognize some of your friends!

BACK TO THE OLYMPICS or "MOM'S EPIC FAIL!"

With the Olympics coming up (summer, winter, who cares?) Mom has - from her bed - become smitten and feverish for some 
"JUST DO IT!" - style skatin' time on the Ice!
She and Edwin had been speedskating before anyone in the world even knew, much less cared about the obscure sport, but thanks to American Gold Medalist Apolo Anton Ohno and his EPIC CRASH (wasn't his fault, tho!) during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, short-track speedskating rapidly gained popularity for its resemblance to Human NASCAR racing...following this crash, a bloodied, tattered, battered Apolo dragged himself across the finish line to claim Silver while an Australian that Edwin met and hung out with in Vancouver 2010 (who was SO far behind the pack that he missed the crash entirely) quietly glided to a Gold Medal he knew never really belonged to him. Well, Apolo got Silver, the Koreans issued death threats (even though they caused the crash from #1 position) and the world fell madly in love with short-track speedskating!
Mom and Edwin's skating coach drove feverishly with no tickets from Bellingham to Salt Lake City to watch and next thing they knew, mom and Edwin were participating in a famous sport!

APTLY TITLED "SKATE LEFT"...JUST CHECK BLOGS WE FOLLOW FOR MORE CHILLS, THRILLS, & SPILLS AS THE ATHLETES BEGIN TRAINING FOR THE 2014 WINTER GAMES IN SIBERIA!}

 

This morning mom pulled out (not her skates, too sick today) but she did pull out Apolo's autobiography given to her by Edwin, entitled Zero Regrets. (They've hung out together a bit, too, Apolo being from Seattle, but that's another story.) 
Mom opened her book for inspiration to keep from feeling kinda down and read the inscription by Apolo to her, SQUEEEEE! which is really cool, before her eyes moved down to the inscription written to her from Edwin, in green (because Edwin thinks he's a leprechaun or something):

FOR PUTTING THE WORD

YOU TRULY DESERVE THIS BOOK.

Ear Nibbles?!

 

For months, we have been listening to a mysterious sound emanating from Bhindi and Peter-Peanut's cage, haven't we, mom?


Why, yes we have, Yum-Yum,
most mysterious, indeed!
What could it be? I get
foggy-brained just
wondering about it.
Nibbles gives me Giggles,
Not to mention hair-muss-upz!

Well, mom, TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!
What is it, Yum-Yum?
Mom, it's EAR-NIBBLIN',
PIRATE~STYLE!
AND I, Yum-Yum, have evidence to
back up my claim to the Prize for
solving the mystery. See, whenever
Bhindi and Peter Peanut eat breakfast...
Watch them act all nicey-nicey, and
particularly take note of Bhindi's
"look of innocence."

He's moving in for the
BIG EAR-NIBBLE!

Oh, right, right.
Haven't you noticed the same thing, mom,
that when you go in to give scritchy-scratches
to one, the other one rushes in and next thing
ya know there's a little squeal and a jump?
Yeah, guess I never thought of it that way
but they both DO want to be scritchy-scratched
at the exact same time and I've only got two
hands and I always wondered...

Waiting for YumYum

 

It's not a "man-crush" just that YumYum
is my best friend and while he sleeps in
his pink sleeping thingy this is where I
wait with devotion for when he wakes up.
And then I follow him up and down his
cage and we rub noses through the bars.
Really, if you ask me, I would love Fairy's
sister, Marigold, should I ever take a wife.
But with the OlympiGz coming up the 
air-space is now a No-Flies Zone, just
like our kitchen...er...is.
So, for now, I just lay on my hay and dream
a little dream.

Today was an epic 
MOMENT!

"Hamster
fences" arrived to
keep us from being naughty on mom's bed.







VinnyGuinea demonstrates "run" in the blur of his very own special "Runabout!" See him jump? That's what's called "popcorning"... wonder why? 

 

Being new, and having just recently
become a "man-pig" it is both my
duty and obligation to take this
opportunity to break into Vinny's
cage and do things mom told me
not to do. Like eat Vinny's
food from "Red Castle" take-out.

 

Things like drink out of his
water bottle to put my tongue
all over it so he'll know 
I was here.

 

Things like socialize with YumYum
and get pointers on how to become
a better "Pirate-Pig!"

Things like, when Vinny sees me

to pretend I am invisible and

Mom moved in with us. I had to drink my water
and eat my breakfast first, (urp!) 'scuse that, oh 
my, but mom moved in with us and now we can
run all over the apartment because the little hamster
fences haven't arrived yet to keep us from doing
naughty things around her bed.
We don't mean to be naughty...
